HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
April 26 we celebrate one year since we opened Ay! Caramba in Falmouth (7 years this month in Harwich). And what a year it has been. It has been a year filled with challenges and opportunities. There were moments when we occasionally stumbled and others where we encountered success. One such success occurred in March when the Cape Cod Travel Guide honored us as one of their Editor's Pick for 2007. Also in March we received two very nice reviews which you can read below.
What a great feeling it is to be acknowledged for what we do but the greatest feeling is when we see you, our friends and guests returning, sharing us with your friends and most importantly leaving our restaurant satisfied.
Thank you for your continued support. It means so much to all of us at Ay! Caramba |

"Real Mexican food is prepared with fresh vegetables, beans jam-packed with fiber and protein"
Coastlines
March, 2007
By: Michael Bihari, M.D., owner of From Dr. Mike's Kitchen and Dr. Mike Writes.
Mexican food is one of the favorite restaurant meals for many Americans. In a lot of communities it has surpassed both Chinese and Italian food in popularity. But is it healthy for you? It certainly can be, if you make the right menu choices. However, according to studies by the Center for Science in the Public Interest and Consumer Reports, many dishes commonly served in Mexican eateries, especially in large chains and Tex-Mex style fast food restaurants, are high in calories and overloaded with sodium, fat and cholesterol.
Don't blame the Mexicans, their cuisine is generally healthy. Many “traditional” Mexican foods were developed in the U.S. and don't exist south-of the-border. Real Mexican food is prepared with fresh vegetables, beans jam-packed with fiber and protein, and the pungent flavors of spices and herbs such as chilies, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, and cilantro. In fact, it's one of the most colorful, varied, and well-rounded cuisines in the world.
Here are some suggestions for ordering from a menu in a Mexican restaurant: more........ |

"Tantalizing Combinations in a Festive Atmosphere"
Cape Cod Times
March, 2007
By Laurie Higgins
The recent balmy spell shook me out of my comfort food mood and made me want to tantalize my taste buds a bit. Ay! Caramba Cafe & Cantina in Harwich (and Falmouth) seemed like a perfect choice - and it was.
The atmosphere was sunny and colorful, with deep yellow walls covered with Mexican art and gorgeous photographs of Mexican people. Our waitress, Laura, was warm and friendly. more...... |

| On April 26 it will be one year since we opened our doors in Falmouth. It has been exciting at times as well as interesting and sometimes even difficult as we find our footing in our new community. We have had to make adjustments as we went along and we would like to thank all of you for your support and patience during this process. One thing we discovered is that our guests in Falmouth tend to visit us more for dinner so we have decided that at least until May we will close for lunch Tuesday through Thursday. We will open for dinner during those days at 4:00pm. On Friday and Saturday we will continue to serve lunch opening the doors at 11:30am. We will remain closed on Sunday and Monday until May. Thank you for your understanding. click here for hours. |

CHURROS
- This month we share with you a recipe for one of our very popular desserts, the Churro. Originally created by sheep herders from the grasslands of 16th century Spain the Churro eventually found its way to Mexico and was quickly adopted as a favorite snack food.
Named after the Churro Sheep whose antlers they resemble, the donut-like cylindrical shaped dessert is easily found sold from street carts and carnivals throughout Mexico. Deep-fried in large cauldrons of bubbling oil the hot dough sticks, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside are then usually dusted with mixture of cinnamon and sugar or powdered sugar. Many enjoy them stuffed with custard or cajeta (caramel made from goats milk) or even fruit.
A real favorite amongst kids at the restaurant we hope you enjoy!
